Chicago-based soprano Andrea Baker most recently sang the role of Marzelline in Fidelio at Opera Company of Middlebury “brilliantly and sensitively” (Times Argus). In the 2023-24 season she sings Donna Anna in Don Giovanni with TEC Monterrey in Mexico, Mimi in La bohème with Wichita Grand Opera and Violetta in La Traviata with Anchorage Opera.
This season she was awarded the first-place prize in the Edward M. Murray International Competition with Opera Ithaca and last season won third place in the James Toland Vocal Arts Competition. In early 2020, Andrea sang the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni with Pensacola Opera. She was also an Artist in Residence in 2018-2019. While there, she covered the roles of Juliette in Roméo et Juliette, Rosalba in Florencia en el Amazonas, and was the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate and Rossini’s Stabat Mater.
Andrea has covered the roles of Liù in Turandot and Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus at Des Moines Metro Opera and the role of Marzelline in Fidelio at Sarasota Opera. Other credits include Alice Ford in Falstaff, First Lady in The Magic Flute, Countess in The Marriage of Figaro, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and Musetta in La bohème.
