Bass-Baritone

American bass-baritone Andrew Richardson has been acclaimed for his “very beautiful, very good, and well-produced voice” as well as having “an evident potential in the dramatic repertoire.” (Wagner Society of New York).


In the 2024-2025 season, Richardson sings Zaccaria in Nabucco at the JASA Organization Showcase in New York City and debuts with the Tulsa Symphony as bass soloist in Mozart’s Requiem. Recent engagements include Schlendrian with On Site Opera’s The Immersive Coffee Cantata Experience as well as Lautsprecher in Der Kaiser von Atlantis. He also sang Thomas Bouché in Kurt Weill’s rarely performed opera, Down in the Valley with the Little Opera Theater of New York, and covered the role of Don Pizarro in Fidelio with the St. Petersburg Opera.


In 2021, Richardson debuted with New Amsterdam Opera singing Bethune/Procida in I vespri siciliani and sang a recital with soprano Kirsten Arnold with Opera at Florham. Richardson was also awarded an Encouragement Award from the Wagner Society of New York. The artist was a semi-finalist in the Vincero World Singing Competition and a finalist in the International Lyric Competition’s Citta’ di Brescia in Memory of Maria Callas.


As a Benenson Young Artist at Palm Beach Opera, Richardson covered Scarpia in Tosca, Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro, and performed the roles of Cacambo, the Baron, and Don Issachar in Candide.


In 2017, Richardson made his debut with Sarasota Opera as M. Javelinot in Dialogues des Carmélites. Other notable credits include Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, Il Dottore in La Traviata with Martha Cardona Opera, Zuniga in Carmen, George Benton in Dead Man Walking, Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte, Peter in Hansel and Gretel, and the Maharajah in The Last Savage.


Andrew Richardson holds a Doctor of Music from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and a Master of Music from Indiana University. He received his Bachelor of Music from DePauw University. Richardson has been a student of Armen Boyajian since 2018.
