Baritone
South African baritone Tshilidzi Ndou boasts an impressive educational background, holding degrees from North-Western University in South Africa, as well as a Performer's Diploma in Voice and Master of Music from Southern Methodist University.
As an apprentice in 2024 with Glimmerglass Opera, he performed the roles of Samuel in Pirates of Penzance and covered Mercurio in La Calisto. In 2023, Ndou joined Chautauqua Opera, appearing as Escamillo in La tragédie de Carmen and the baritone soloist in an opera pops concert with the Chautauqua Symphony.
A former resident artist at Utah Opera, he appeared in various productions, including La fille du régiment as the Corporal, Marullo in Rigoletto, Schaunard in La bohème, the Businessman in The Little Prince, Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro, a Servant in Thais, and as baritone soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Utah Symphony.
Ndou's performance repertoire includes Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Mr. Webb in Our Town, Luther Billis in South Pacific, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, John Proctor in The Crucible, and baritone soloist in Bach's Magnificat. As part of the Dallas Opera's Educational Outreach program, he performed the Mayor in Doctor Miracle and Belcore in L'Elisir d'amore.
Tshilidzi Ndou won first prize in the Pre-Professional Division as well as the Spiritual and Contemporary Art Song prize in the 2022 George Shirley Vocal Competition. He was a District Winner and Western Region Encouragement Award Winner in the 2021 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
In 2025, Tshilidzi makes a role and company debut as Prince Yamadori in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly with San Antonio and Austin Operas and returns to the Glimmerglass Festival as a young artist.
